Founded in 1972, Ocean Conservancy is an environmental nonprofit advocacy organization that promotes healthy and diverse ocean ecosystems and opposes practices that threaten ocean life and human wellbeing. EXECUTIVE OFFICE

Ocean Conservancy has been led for the last four years by President & CEO Vikki Spruill, one of the environmental community's foremost strategists and spokespeople. She is supported by an Executive Team comprised of an Executive Vice President, three Vice Presidents and a Chief Financial Officer. The Executive Team is a highly integrated unit, working to elevate and coordinate the performance of every part of the organization, and interfacing with the Board of Directors to advance Ocean Conservancy's mission.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Manager of the Executive Office works closely with the President, providing confidential and direct executive support for the full breadth of her activities—including management of internal and external correspondence, project management for special events, budgeting and cost assessment, logistical/travel management and support, special projects, and research and briefing preparation. S/he works closely with members of Ocean Conservancy's Executive Team to ensure collaboration and delivery of information and materials to the President. S/he is also responsible for helping to efficiently manage the President's workflow and coordinating the materials and information needed to prepare the President for meetings, events, presentations. To fulfill this responsibility, s/he will develop strong working relationships with Ocean Conservancy staff at every level and create and maintain a collaborative working environment in support of the President throughout the organization.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES

· College degree and at least three years of experience working in a management, operations, communications, advocacy, or policy role.

· Proven ability to handle a fast-paced work environment, and to manage projects effectively from concept through to completion.

· Capacity to engage others to meet a common goal and to do so with diplomacy and tact.

· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and function as part of a team.

· Strong oral and written communication skills.

· Familiarity with public policy, communications, conservation and the non-profit sector preferred.

· Highly discrete, and able to be trusted with confidential information relating to the organization and its staff.
